The European Union's partial embargo on Russian oil will have a negative impact on the entire energy market, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today.
"These sanctions will undoubtedly have a negative impact, perhaps on the entire continent, but certainly on the Europeans, on us and on the global energy market," he warned, TASS reports.
Peskov added that the European market is very important for Russia in terms of supplies, but now Moscow is taking measures to mitigate the consequences of these new restrictions.
"We are redirecting reserves to other destinations. These are decisive, systematic actions that will allow us to minimize all negative effects," he said.
Peskov pointed out that Europe itself will be faced with a serious reversal of its own decisions and that it will have to endure the consequences.
On Monday, EU members approved the sixth package of sanctions against Russia, among which is a partial embargo on the import of Russian oil and the exclusion of Sberbank from the international transaction system SVIFT.
