AstraZeneca has announced that two of its existing therapies have been recommended for the treatment of patients with some forms of high-risk breast cancer in the European Union, transmissions H1.

Linparza, a cancer drug developed jointly with the US Merck, is approved for use alone or in combination with endocrine therapy in adults with a form of genetically mutated early-stage breast cancer, Reuters writes.

The drug, which received a similar recommendation in the US in March, is a key advantage for AstraZeneca. It is recommended for patients with low to normal levels of a protein known as HER2, which is the target of several new therapies.

Enhertu, developed together with Japan's "Daiichi Sankio", was the second drug approved by the European Medicines Agency for the treatment of an aggressive form of cancer characterized by a high rate of HER2.

The drug is expected to be available for patients with low HER2 levels this month following recent trial success.
