The spokesman of the Turkish presidency confirmed today that there is a "high probability" that the first ship with Ukrainian grain could leave the port of Odessa in Ukraine tomorrow morning, according to the terms of the agreement reached on July 22 with Russia.
"There is a high probability that the first ship will be able to leave tomorrow morning if everything is regulated by tonight," said Ibrahim Kalin in an interview with the private Channel Seven television.
He said that one or two issues remain to be resolved in the negotiations with the Russians.
"Preparations have reached the point that would enable the movement of ships from the port of Odessa. The ships are loaded and ready to go, but good logistical coordination is needed," he added.
Ankara announced today that the continuation of exports was also a topic of discussion between the Turkish Defense Minister and the Ukrainian Ministers of Defense and Infrastructure.
"It is planned to start the transport as soon as possible," the Turkish ministry said in a statement.
The Joint Coordination Center (CCC) in charge of controlling Ukrainian grain exports to the Black Sea was officially opened on Wednesday in Istanbul in accordance with the agreements signed on July 22.
The deal to end the blockade, the first major deal between the Ukrainian and Russian sides since the conflict began, aims to ease a global food crisis that has seen prices soar in some of the world's poorest countries.
The coordination center should register and monitor merchant ships participating in convoys, ensure that they are tracked via the Internet and satellites, inspect ships at the time of loading in Ukrainian ports and upon their arrival in Turkish ports.
The Russian Navy will receive "in the coming months" a new hypersonic cruise missile "Zirkon" that "knows no obstacles", Russian President Vladimir Putin announced today.
