Ships of the Greek coast guard fired on a cargo ship in the Aegean Sea, the Turkish coast guard announced today.
The statement said there were no casualties on the ship southwest of the Turkish island of Bozjade, in another escalation of tensions between Turkey and Greece.
The Greek embassy in Ankara has not commented on this issue, and the reason for the attack is unknown.
The two countries have been at loggerheads for decades, and tensions have escalated in recent weeks after both sides accused each other of airspace violations.
Greek officials expressed concern that after the war in Ukraine, another conflict could break out in Europe.
