Sweden warns of two gas leaks from the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline

The Swedish Maritime Administration said on Tuesday it had issued a warning about two leaks from the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline in Swedish and Danish waters, shortly after a leak was discovered at the nearby Nord Stream 2 project.

"There are two leaks on Nord Stream 1 - one in the Swedish economic zone and one in the Danish economic zone. They are very close to each other," the Swedish Maritime Administration told Reuters.

The leak is located northeast of the Danish island of Bornholm, the spokesman said, according to Reuters.

"We take extra care that no ship comes too close to the location," said the Swedish Maritime Administration.

Danish authorities on Monday asked ships to stay as far as possible from a radius of five nautical miles southeast of Bornholm after a gas leak from the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

Later in the day, the operator of the Nord Stream 1 pipeline, which had been operating at reduced capacity since mid-June before shutting down completely in August, also reported a drop in pressure on both lines of the Nord Stream 1 pipeline.
