British Prime Minister Liz Truss said she should have done more to better "prepare the ground" in an attempt to minimize the market reaction that sent the pound to record lows.
On the first day of her ruling Conservative party's annual conference, Tras, who has been in power for less than a month, adopted a softer tone as she tried to reassure the public that she would look after them during the tough winter and beyond.
However, she stuck to her "growth plan" which has been criticized by investors and economists for billions of pounds of extra spending, offering very few details on how it would pay off in the short term, SEEbiz reports.
"I understand their concern about what happened this week," Trass told the BBC's Sunday with Laura Kuensberg.
She stated that she stands by the package they announced and stands by the fact that they announced it quickly because they had to act, but she accepts that the field should have been better prepared.
