Today, the Russian Federal Service for Financial Supervision Rosfinmonitoring placed the American company "Meta" on the list of organizations involved in terrorism and extremism.
The law obliges banks to freeze funds of citizens and organizations from the Rosfinmonitoring blacklist and stop servicing them, Interfax reported.
On March 21, 2022, the Tver court, following the lawsuit of the Office of the Chief Prosecutor of Russia, labeled "Meta Platform" as extremist and banned their activities in Russia, that is, the social networks Facebook and Instagram.
The court verdict does not ban the WhatsApp application, even though it is owned by Meta, because it does not distribute information publicly, reports Tanjug.
"Meta" called the decision of the Tver court unreasonable and contested it.
On June 20, the Moscow City Court rejected her appeal and upheld the district court's decision.
