Ukrainian forces have liberated 41 settlements advancing in the south of the country, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said, Reuters reports.
Defense Minister of Ukraine Alexei Reznikov stated that Russia will need at least a week to withdraw its troops from the Ukrainian city of Kherson.
Reznikov also told Reuters that there are about 40.000 Russian soldiers in the Kherson region, and that according to intelligence data, they are deployed in and around the city, as well as on the right bank of the Dnieper.
"It is not so easy to withdraw troops from Kherson in one or two days. At least (it will take) a week," Reznikov said, as reported by Reuters.
The White House has announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine, which will include air defense systems.
White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said the military aid package includes the US Hawk and Avenger air defense systems, which are equipped with Stingers, reports Reuters.
Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh confirmed that the US will send Ukraine a new military aid package of 400 million dollars.
Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles previously stated that the country will send two more US-made Hawk air defense systems to Ukraine.
American national security adviser Jake Sullivan said that the withdrawal of Russian forces from certain areas in Ukraine does not mean that the war in Ukraine is ending.
Sullivan also stated that Washington is not pressuring Ukraine to engage in diplomacy with Russia because of the war.
The White House said the US had discovered signs that Russian forces may be planning to withdraw from the Ukrainian city of Kherson, reports Reuters.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky agreed that any Russian withdrawal from the occupied city of Kherson would mean "strong progress" by Ukrainian forces, Sunak's office said.
The two leaders concluded in a telephone conversation that it was right to be cautious about the withdrawal "until the Ukrainian flag is in the city," Sunak's spokesman said, according to Reuters.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for caution and restraint following Russia's announcement of withdrawal from Kherson. "We are fighting to break through, and when you fight, you must understand that every step always brings resistance from the enemy, it is always the loss of the lives of our heroes," Zelensky said.
