Almost 200 activists from a dozen animal protection associations symbolically parodied a bullfight today in Paris, demanding the abolition of bullfighting in France and supporting a bill banning the practice.
Demonstrators, who chanted "Corrida Basta" (Enough bullfighting), gathered in a square in Paris to demand that bullrings become a part of history.
Some activists wore horns, imitating bulls, while others played the role of bullfighters carrying arrows, which are pierced into the bulls to weaken them and then kill them.
Activists supported the bill on the abolition of bullfighting, which was presented by environmental MP Emrik Karon.
Similar demonstrations were held in other cities of France, while in the south of the country rallies were also held in support of bullfighting.
The bill was supported by the famous Brigitte Bardot, a former actress and a great advocate of animal protection.
