The leaders of the 27 member states of the European Union approved on Thursday a minimum tax of 15 percent on the profits of multinational companies, after the blockade by Hungary and Poland was lifted, European Economic Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni announced.
The entry into force of this measure in Europe is scheduled for December 31, 2023.
The consent of all 27 EU members was necessary to accept the draft directive prepared by the Commission, which introduces the historic agreement for more tax justice, which was approved last year by almost 140 countries under the umbrella of the OECD.
