Russia's aggression against Ukraine is creating a major crisis in Europe and the situation will be even worse if Moscow does not lose the war, said the first lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on January 17, 2023.
Speaking in Ukrainian, she told the forum delegates that global cooperation is necessary. "Nothing is forbidden for Russia," Zelenska warned, referring to the use of an anti-aircraft missile on apartments in the Dnieper.
"The world must unite for peace," she said.
She added that she had delivered her husband's letters to several leaders in Davos, including Chinese Vice President Liu He.
Ukraine's high-level diplomatic pressure in Davos is an opportunity to engage and increase international support that Kiev is seeking, with weapons such as tanks and anti-missile defenses, and to continue isolating and pressuring the Russian economy, according to the AP.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is scheduled to address the forum on Wednesday.
Global leaders, policymakers and activists gathered at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Monday to focus on the war in Ukraine and economic instability amid climate change.
The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the US climate envoy, John Kerry, and the new presidents of South Korea, Colombia and the Philippines are participating in the forum.
Chinese Vice Premier Liu He addressed the crowd on January 17, a day before his first meeting with his American counterpart, Finance Minister Janet Yellen in Zurich. Jelen will not come to Davos.
American President Joe Biden, Chinese President Xi Jinping, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and French President Emmanuel Macron are not coming to Davos either.
Neither will Russian President Vladimir Putin because of the war that Russia is waging against Ukraine.
The forum is held under the theme "Cooperation in a fragmented world", and will last until January 20.
