Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said today under oath that he never lied to MPs about government parties during the quarantine due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
He testified before the House of Commons Standards Committee today over "misleading statements" he made to parliament about gatherings in government buildings.
"Hand on heart, I did not lie to Parliament," Johnson told the committee after taking the oath on the Bible.
If the committee finds that he deliberately lied, he could be suspended or even lose his seat in parliament.
"If anyone thinks I've been partying during quarantine, they're absolutely wrong," Johnson said during the hours-long hearing.
Johnson also criticized the committee, which includes four conservatives and three from opposition parties, saying they are acting like "investigators, prosecutors, judges and juries."
Despite a series of scandals, including illegal parties during the corona virus, Johnson resigned as head of the British Conservative Party in July last year.
The Prime Minister remained until the election of Liz Truss as his deputy.
