Three more people were arrested in Poland, accused of being Russian spies

Three more people were arrested in Poland on the charge of being part of a larger Russian spy network that monitored Polish railways and the airport in Rzeszów in southern Poland, from where Western arms deliveries to Ukraine go, Deputy Minister of Special Services Coordinator Stanjislav Zarin announced today.

"The Internal Security Agency has identified three people who were active in a spy network that was broken earlier. They were arrested and accused of espionage within an organized group, and they are currently in custody according to the court's decision," Žarin told the Polish media today.

In total, the three most recent arrests revealed 12 members of the group, foreigners whom the Polish authorities only speak of as citizens of countries east of Poland, and the Polish media unofficially learned that they are Belarusians and Ukrainians.

"Those persons were active in a group managed by the Russian intelligence services. They had certain tasks, typically intelligence but also in the field of propaganda. It is a whole network of people who were tasked with collecting information on the routes and transports of weapons from aid to Ukraine," he said. is Žarin.

In mid-March, the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration, Marijuš Kaminjski, when he announced that the network had been broken and nine foreigners arrested, said that, among other things, they monitored railway traffic on the tracks and the transport of weapons to Ukraine.

"Cameras, electronic equipment and GPS that they wanted to put on trains with deliveries to Ukraine were confiscated. The group had the task of acting with propaganda and disrupting relations with Ukraine and NATO member countries," Kaminjski said.

Yesterday, the Polish authorities announced that a week ago a Russian spy was arrested in Gdańsk in the north of Poland who admitted to collecting intelligence on infrastructure in the northern Polish voivodships on the Baltic Sea.

The arrested man admitted that he had been spying for Russia since at least January of this year.
