At least 30 people were injured today in a train accident at a station in central Switzerland, the cantonal police announced.
"None of the injured are in danger," added the police, who in the first report stated that 27 people were injured.
The accident occurred at the station in the mountain town of Andermatt during a diversion maneuver. The maneuver consisted in separating the locomotive from the composition with five wagons in which there were about 100 passengers.
The freak locomotive, for now unknown reasons, returned back to the composition of wagons it hit.
The locomotive was traveling at a normal speed of between 15 and 20 kilometers per hour.
The railway company Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn) announced that local authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
