A court in the western Russian city of Tula has sentenced two men to 3,5 years in prison each for their alleged involvement in a car bomb explosion in August that killed Daria Dugina, the daughter of right-wing ideologue Alexander Dugin, who has strong ties to the Kremlin. Radio Free Europe (RSE).
The Proletarsky District Court sentenced Aleksandr Suchkov and Andrey Kuznetsov on Wednesday after finding them guilty of forging documents on a car allegedly used by Ukrainian national Natalia Vovk, whom Russian investigators accuse of carrying out the bombing, in order to leave Russia after the attack .
Suchkov and Kuznetsov admitted that they forged documents and stated that they had no idea who they did it for.
Daria Dugina (29) was killed in the explosion of the car she was driving on the road in the Moscow Region on August 20, 2022.
Russian investigators said at the time that an explosive device was likely planted in the car.
Family members said Alexander Dugin, one of the main proponents of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, decided at the last minute to switch cars with his daughter as they were leaving a festival outside Moscow.
Ukrainian officials denied that Kiev was behind the attack.
In April, a court in Moscow issued an arrest warrant for Ukrainian citizen Bohdan Tsikhanenko.
The Russian Federal Security Service stated that a few days before the car bomb attack in which Daria Dugina was killed, Tsihanenko arrived in Russia via Estonia and delivered forged documents and an explosive device allegedly used in the attack to Natalya Vovk.
According to Russian investigators, Tsykhanenko left Russia the day before the attack.
The well-known Russian military blogger and supporter of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Vladlen Tatarsky (Maksim Fomin), was killed last month in a bomb explosion in a cafe in Saint Petersburg.
Russian authorities again accused Ukraine of organizing the attack, but Kiev denied any involvement.
