The Russian army announced today that it repelled the Ukrainian attempt to "invade" the Russian border area in which several dozen soldiers and tanks participated.
"After intense shelling of civilian settlements in the Belgorod region, Ukrainian terrorist groups numbering up to two companies of motorized infantry supported by tanks attempted to attack Russian territory," the Russian Ministry of Defense said on Telegram.
The attack was preceded by the "bombing of civilian objects", the Ministry announced, adding that "the attacker suffered significant losses".
Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said that at least nine people were injured in the strikes on Russia's Belgorod region.
An evacuation was organized from Chebekin, with about 40.000 inhabitants, and the surrounding villages.
