The Hermitage in Amsterdam will change its name, the museum announced today, which cut ties with Russia shortly after the start of the invasion of Ukraine and ended its decade-long cooperation with the institution of the same name in St. Petersburg.
The Hermitage will be called the "H'ART Museum" from September 1, 2023, and will work "in close cooperation with the British Museum, the Pompidou Center and the Smithsonian American Museum of Art," the statement said, adding that it will be a "new beginning." .
The Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg opened a branch in the Netherlands in 2009, located in the Amstelhof, a 17th-century building. The opening was attended by then Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
The first major exhibition in the H'ART Museum is scheduled for the middle of 2024.
