Russia repelled an attack by five Ukrainian drones in Moscow and the nearby region, its defense ministry said on Tuesday, Reuters reports.
The anti-aircraft defense destroyed four drones, and the fifth was intercepted and fell, according to the ministry's announcement.
"There were no victims or material damage in the terrorist attack," the statement said.
Russia also said Ukraine carried out a drone attack on Moscow and the surrounding region, which disrupted flights at one of the capital's main airports, Reuters reports.
At least three drones were intercepted in the skies above the Moscow region - including two just 30 km (19 miles) southwest of the Kremlin, Russian news agencies reported earlier.
One drone was discovered in the neighboring Kaluga region.
Landings and takeoffs at Moscow's Vnukovo airport were restricted for several hours earlier on Tuesday before normal operations resumed after XNUMX a.m. CET.

A number of flights were diverted to other airports.
"The attempt by the Kiev regime to attack an area where civilian infrastructure is located, including an airport that also receives foreign flights, is another act of terrorism," Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, Reuters reported.
"The international community should understand that the United States of America, Great Britain, France – permanent members of the UN Security Council – are financing the terrorist regime," she said.
Reuters reports that there was no comment from the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv.
Ukraine almost never publicly claims responsibility for attacks inside Russia or on Russian-controlled territory in Ukraine.

"All detected drones have been eliminated. No casualties have been reported," he added.
