Germany will deliver additional weapons worth almost 700 million euros to Ukraine, the German Ministry of Defense announced today, on the first day of the NATO summit in Vilnius.

Germany, which is the second country in terms of military aid to Ukraine after the United States of America (USA), will deliver two launchers for the Patriot air defense system, 40 Marder type armored vehicles and 25 Leopard 1 A5 tanks and 20.000 artillery missiles.

The list also includes reconnaissance and defense drones, tactical reconnaissance and Luna drones for electronic warfare, mines and parts of a field hospital.

"I am pleased that today in Vilnius we can announce a new package (of military aid) to support Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression," German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius told AFP.

That package "corresponds to Ukraine's priorities, which are air defense, tanks and artillery" worth around 700 million euros, Pistorius added.

These are essentially the types of weapons that Berlin is already supplying to Ukrainian troops, engaged since the beginning of June in a counter-offensive against Russian forces.

The last package of German arms deliveries to Ukraine dates back to May 13.

Just before Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to Germany, Berlin announced arms deliveries worth 2,7 billion euros.
