The armed forces of Ukraine carried out missile attacks today on the Chongarsky bridge that connects Crimea with the Kherson region and on the bridge over the Genichev Strait, the Kremlin announced.
The leader of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, who was appointed by Moscow, stated on Telegram that there were no casualties in the attack and that work was underway to repair the bridge.
British-made Storm Shadow cruise missiles were used in the attack on the Csongar bridge, reports TASS.
The governor of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, who was also appointed by Russia, announced that the Ukrainian army also shelled the village of Chongar, where the school was damaged.
Around 14.30:XNUMX Moscow time, Ukraine also targeted the bridge for passenger vehicles across the Genichesk Strait, which connects Genichesk with the Arabat Isthmus.
A total of 12 missiles were fired, nine of which were shot down by the air defense system, Saldo said.
According to eyewitnesses, one person received minor shrapnel wounds while crossing the bridge by car.
After the shelling of the bridge on the Arabat Pass, the gas pipeline caught fire, leaving more than 20.000 residents of Geničesk without gas supply.

Russia wants to control only those territories that are constitutionally its own, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today.
When asked by a journalist, who interviewed him for the New York Times, whether Russia wants to add more Ukrainian territories, he answered in the negative.
"No. We just want to control the territory that is written in the Constitution as ours," said Peskov, TASS reports.
Referendums on joining Russia were held in Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions in September last year, when the majority of residents supported the move.
On September 30, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin and the heads of those regions signed treaties on the accession of Russia, and on October 4, 2022, Putin signed laws on the ratification of the treaties.

A fire engulfed the wooden roof of a university building in Donetsk following Ukrainian shelling on Saturday, an emergency official said in the Russian-controlled city in eastern Ukraine.
"As a result of the latest attack on Donetsk, the first building of the University of Economics and Trade is on fire," Alexei Kulemzin, the Russian-appointed mayor, said on Telegram, according to Reuters.
"We are using 12 water tanks, three ladders and 100 firefighters," said Alexei Kostrubitsky, Russia's emergency minister for the region Moscow calls the Donetsk People's Republic.
Kostrubicki said Ukrainian forces used cluster munitions in the shelling that caused the fire. Reuters could not independently verify the information. Both sides used cluster munitions during Russia's 17-month invasion of Ukraine.
Ukraine, which received a stockpile of American cluster munitions last month, has vowed to use them only to eliminate concentrations of enemy soldiers.
So far, there has been no comment from Ukraine about the alleged shelling. Both sides deny that they targeted civilians and civilian infrastructure.
Kostrubicki said that there were no people in the building during the shelling.
"The most difficult thing is that the roof is wooden, so the fire spreads quickly," he added.
Russia's state news agency RIA quoted Kostrubitsky and emergency officials as saying the fire spread to an area of about 1.800 square meters (19.400 square feet) before it was brought under control early Sunday.
Russia's air defense system destroyed two drones over the Karachev district in the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, the governor of the Russian region bordering Ukraine, said on Sunday.
"There was no damage and no casualties," Bogomaz said on the Telegram channel, Reuters reports.
It was not clear who launched the drones, and there was no comment from Ukraine. Kiev almost never publicly claims responsibility for attacks inside Russia or on Russian-controlled territory in Ukraine.
Russian authorities say the Bryansk region - which borders both Ukraine and Belarus - has seen multiple attacks by Ukrainian forces and pro-Ukrainian sabotage groups in the 17 months since Russia began its invasion of Ukraine.
Russia launched waves of attacks overnight on August 5-6 against Ukraine, using 70 air strike weapons, including cruise and hypersonic missiles and Iranian-made drones, the Ukrainian Air Force said on August 6.
The air force, which celebrates the August 6 holiday, said on the Telegram messaging channel that Ukrainian air defenses destroyed 30 of the 40 cruise missiles and all 27 Shahed drones launched by Russia overnight, Radio Free Europe reports.
"In total, in several waves of attacks, from the evening of August 5 to the morning of August 6, 2023, the enemy used 70 assets in air strikes," the Air Force said.
It was also said that Russia had launched three Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, but without further information about them.
Reuters could not independently verify the report. There were no comments from Russia.
It was not immediately clear if there was any damage from the night attack or what happened to the 10 cruise missiles that were not shot down.
Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ikhnat told national Ukrainian television that one of the key targets of the overnight Russian attack was the Khmelnytskyi region.
"Now it is the airport of Starokostiantinov that is chasing the enemy," Ikhnat said.
Russia previously targeted the Starokostiantinov military airport in the Khmelnytskyi region at the end of July.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he expects new aid packages for Ukraine next week.
He thanked Germany and Lithuania for new defense and security support packages for Ukraine.
"Next week we expect new decisions and new aid packages. We are working to ensure that our defense industry has even greater achievements and opportunities," said Zelenski, reports Ukrinform.
Ukraine's Finance Ministry announced Friday that the German government has provided $1,55 billion in full-scale financial aid since the start of the invasion, with the bulk of the funding being grants.
