Russian President Vladimir Putin does not plan to attend the funeral of the founder of the Wagner mercenary military group Yevgeny Prigozhin, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reported.
He told reporters in Moscow that the Kremlin is not familiar with the organization of Prigozhin's funeral, because it is a "family matter."
Prigozhin died after his business plane crashed in Russia last week.
The accident occurred two months after he and his soldiers staged a mutiny against the leadership of the Russian army and captured Rostov-on-Don, before retreating after Wagner reached 200 kilometers from Moscow.
The Kremlin previously dismissed as "absolute lies" statements by certain Western politicians and commentators that Putin ordered the murder of Prigozhin in revenge for the rebellion.
