Great Britain will declare the Russian mercenary group Wagner a banned terrorist organization, because it "remains a threat to global security even" after the death of its leader Yevgeny Prigozhin.
The government announced that an order banning the group under the Terrorism Act would be introduced in parliament.
This will ban membership or support for Wagner, the paramilitary group that played a major role in Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Wagner also operates in Syria and several African countries.
Interior Minister Suela Braverman said Wagner was "involved in robbery, torture and barbaric murder."
"Their operations in Ukraine, the Middle East and Africa pose a threat to global security. They are terrorists, plain and simple," she said.
British authorities, once the MPs accept the decision, will be able to seize Wagner's assets.
