Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez canceled his participation in the G20 summit in India after testing positive for covid, the Spanish government announced today.
Sanchez tested positive for the mandatory covid test this afternoon to attend the G20 summit, the government said, adding that the prime minister will not be able to travel to New Delhi for the September 9-10 summit.
The Spanish prime minister, who previously tested positive for covid, is in good shape and will work at his residence, the government added.
Spain will be represented at the G20 summit of the world's largest economies by Minister of Foreign Affairs Jose Manuel Albares, as well as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Nadija Calvinho, the statement added.
