Kremlin: Biden's unacceptable remarks comparing Putin to Hamas

The Kremlin announced today that the remarks of the President of the United States of America (USA) Joseph Biden comparing Russian President Vladimir Putin with the Palestinian militant group Hamas are "unacceptable", Reuters reports.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that the current time is a potentially dangerous moment internationally and that the threat to Russian citizens will grow exponentially when Israel begins its expected ground operation in an attempt to oust Hamas from Gaza.

Peskov declined to say who would represent Russia at a peace summit on the Palestinian conflict in Cairo on Saturday, referring that question to the Foreign Ministry.

In a televised address to the nation, Biden condemned the Palestinian extremist organization Hamas and Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying that a common motive was behind the attack on Israel and the invasion of Ukraine.

"Hamas and Putin present different threats, but they have one thing in common - they want to completely destroy democracy in the neighborhood," said the American president in an address from the Oval Office in the White House, only the second such since he was the head of the country.
