Several members of the Ukrainian special forces were killed during an operation in the occupied part of the Kherson region in the south of Ukraine, the Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Army announced on Thursday.
The statement did not specify how many Ukrainian soldiers died during the operation, the Ukrainian service of Radio Free Europe reported.
The Ukrainian public service Suspilna reported that a group of Ukrainian soldiers were killed while trying to gain a foothold on the Tendriv Pass in the northern part of the Black Sea, near the coast of the Kherson region.
Occupation officials, as reported by Russian news agencies, said that Russian forces "destroyed a group of Ukrainian saboteurs while they were trying to land on the Tendriv Isthmus."
The soldiers who died belonged to the 73rd Naval Center of the Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Army, which participated in the operation to liberate Snake Island on July 7, 2022.
