The US Embassy in Russia has warned Americans of an imminent threat of attacks on large gatherings in Moscow over the next two days.
"The embassy is following reports that extremists have immediate plans to target large gatherings in Moscow, including concerts, and US citizens are advised to avoid large gatherings for the next 48 hours," the embassy said in a warning posted on its website late last night.
The warning advises to avoid crowds, follow local media and take care of the environment.
No further details were given in the warning.
The US warning was also published on the website of the British Foreign Office.
Also, the State Department raised the risk level for travel to Russia to the highest - four.
The Russian authorities have not yet commented on these allegations.
Numerous events dedicated to March 8, International Women's Day, are planned in Moscow today.
