The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, said today that he is in Kharkiv, the city of the Ukrainian region of the same name in the northeast, which has been the target of the Russian offensive for two weeks.
Zelensky wrote on the social network X that he presided over meetings on the defense of that region and the repair of the energy infrastructure, which was badly damaged by Russian attacks.
On May 10, Russia launched a surprise offensive in northern Ukraine and expanded the front while the Ukrainian army was on the defensive in the east and south due to manpower and ammunition shortages.
But the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army, Oleksandr Sirsky, announced this morning that the Russian forces in the Kharkiv region were "stuck" in street fighting in the small town of Vovchansk.
