The British Conservatives have announced that, if they win the next election, they will introduce compulsory military service for all eighteen-year-olds.
"Conscript service would re-engage young people in society," said UK Home Secretary James Cleverley.
He told the BBC that "too many young people live in their own bubble".
Cleverley said that this would "deal with the fragmentation of society", but added that he would not send those who refuse the army to prison.
Labor said it was a "desperate ploy" without sustainable funding.
British Conservative Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said earlier that parliamentary elections will be held on July 4, ending the months-long wait for an election date.
According to earlier polls, the favorite is the opposition Labor Party. Labor could win around 45 percent of the vote, far ahead of the Conservatives, who could win between 20 and 25 percent.
