Russian armed forces launched a new massive attack on energy infrastructure in western and southern Ukraine overnight, the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy announced.
The facilities of Ukrenergo (the Ukrainian operator) were damaged in the regions of Lviv in the west and Zaporozhye in the south, where two workers were injured and hospitalized, the Ministry added.
The announcement states that this is the eighth mass attack on Ukrainian power plants in the last three months, which has caused frequent power outages.
Russia, intensifying its attacks, has destroyed half of Ukraine's energy capacity, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said earlier and called for the installation of solar panels and energy storage units "in every school and in every hospital, as soon as possible."
