A court in Moscow issued an arrest warrant for Yulia Navalnaya

Moscow authorities said on Tuesday that the Basmani District Court had issued an arrest warrant for Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of opposition politician Alexei Navalny, on charges that she participated in the activities of an extremist group.

Navalnyaya was also added to the Russian wanted list.

The move came less than two weeks after she was elected head of the Human Rights Foundation (HRF).

Navalny was succeeded in that position by Garry Kasparov, another Russian opposition figure who lives abroad.

HRF is a New York-based non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and protecting human rights around the world.
