A Ukrainian drone strike set fire to an electrical equipment factory in the town of Korenevo in Russia's Kursk region, the region's interim governor, Alexei Smirnov, said on Telegram on July 16.
Korenevo is located about 25 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
"None of the workers were injured," Smirnov said, adding that the fire at the low-voltage equipment factory was extinguished by fire crews.
The factory in Korenevo produces low-voltage switchgear and control equipment. The company's products are used in the industry and energy complex of Russia and other countries.
Since the beginning of 2024, numerous companies in the oil sector have been attacked by drones in Russia, which is why the primary oil processing unit in some refineries has stopped working.
As Reuters reports, in the first quarter at least seven Russian factories stopped production.
Meanwhile, Russia's Defense Ministry said its air defenses shot down 13 Ukrainian drones overnight, including one over the Kursk region.
Ukraine has not commented on the Russian claims.
