An officer of the Russian GRU military intelligence service Andrei Torgashov was injured in a car explosion in Moscow, Russian daily Kommersant reported, citing unnamed sources.
The state news agency TASS writes that Torgašov's wife was killed in the explosion.
Russian media write that Torgashov, the deputy chief of the military unit 33790 of the Moscow Region, is the communications center of the Strategic Missile Forces, the nuclear shield that is responsible for the defense of Moscow and "retaliation".
Kommersant writes that the explosion occurred against the backdrop of an arrest in the Russian Ministry of Defense and the mysterious death of one of the witnesses under investigation.
The Toyota vehicle exploded shortly after the intelligence officer and an unnamed woman entered the vehicle, Russian media reported with a video of the explosion.
TASS writes that Torgašov lost both legs in the explosion.
