A court in Copenhagen today sentenced a 39-year-old Polish man to four months in prison and ordered his deportation because he hit Danish Prime Minister Meta Frederiksen (46) and committed other punishable acts in June.
He punched the prime minister, who was out walking, in the shoulder, and her neck was injured from the impact.
The Pole, whose identity has not been released, was arrested immediately after he attacked Frederiksen on the square in the capital, Copenhagen, on June 7.
Although the attack was not connected to any political gathering, it happened as violence against politicians spread ahead of the European Parliament elections. The attacker of the prime minister was also convicted of sexual harassment because he went naked and groped women at the train station, and of fraud in supermarkets, all of which he admitted.
