The third suspect who participated in the plans to attack the concert of American singer Taylor Swift in Vienna has sworn allegiance to the extremist organization Islamic State (IS), Austrian officials announced today.
Interior Minister Gerhard Karner said the 18-year-old was detained last night in Vienna after allegedly being in contact with the main suspect.
"He was in contact with the main perpetrator, but he is not directly connected to the attack plans. But, as it became known a few days ago, he took the oath of allegiance to IS on August 6," said Karner.
According to Reuters, the arrested citizen is an Iraqi citizen.
The main suspect, a 19-year-old and a 17-year-old, were arrested on Tuesday, while a 15-year-old was also questioned but not arrested.
The Austrian police found signs of the extremist organizations Islamic State and Al Qaeda in the house of one of the two people arrested for planning an attack on the singer's three concerts that were supposed to take place today, tomorrow and the day after.
Authorities say the plot was inspired by Islamic State and Al Qaeda. Investigators found bomb-making materials in the homes of one of the suspects.
One suspect admitted that he planned to "kill as many people as possible outside the concert venue."
