More cases of monkeypox should be recorded in Europe in the coming days, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned after the discovery of a new, more dangerous variant of the disease in Sweden.
The confirmation of clade 1 subtype mpok in Sweden clearly reflects the interconnectedness of our world with the world where the infection is rampant.
"It is likely that additional Class 1 imported cases will be recorded in the European region in the coming days and weeks," the WHO said in a statement.
