Three people were stabbed during the first day of the Notting Hill Carnival in London, and one of them suffered life-threatening injuries, London police said.
More than a million people are expected to attend the carnival, a celebration of Afro-Caribbean culture held annually on the streets of West London's Notting Hill neighborhood.
About 7.000 police officers are engaged in the carnival, which ends today.
Police said they arrested 90 people on Sunday, 10 of whom were detained for assaulting emergency workers, 18 for possession of weapons and four for sexual offenses.
"Hundreds of thousands of people came to Notting Hill Carnival today to enjoy a fantastic celebration. Unfortunately, a minority came to commit crime and engage in violence," the police said in a statement.
