Turkey arrested more than 100 people it suspects of belonging to the so-called "Islamic State" this Sunday, authorities said Friday, following the latest mass detention of members of the terrorist organization.
Turkey has seen several major attacks claimed by Islamic State, including a 2017 nightclub shooting that left dozens dead.
The arrests were carried out across the country, including the capital Ankara and Turkey's largest city Istanbul, Interior Minister Ali Jerlikaya announced on the X network.
The arrest of 119 people this Sunday followed other mass detentions, including 99 people whose arrests were announced in early August.
Since the collapse of the self-proclaimed "caliphate" in 2019, some suspected members of the "Islamic State" have crossed into Turkey.
Turkish authorities said that since June 2023, more than 3.600 people suspected of being linked to the jihadist group have been arrested.
The two attackers who massacred 145 people at the Crocus City Hall in Moscow last March, in an attack claimed by Islamic State, spent several weeks in Turkey before heading to Russia, local authorities said.
