Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that a 14-year-old girl was among the dead.
The Mayor of Kharkiv, Igor Terehov, previously wrote in Telegram that a child was killed on the playground and that a residential area was hit.
About 20 injured people are in serious condition, regional governor Oleg Sinjehubov said.
In recent weeks, the Russian army has intensified its attacks on Kharkiv, presumably because of the incursion of the Ukrainian army into Russia's Kursk region, writes Reuters.
Ukrainian authorities announced that Kharkiv was attacked yesterday with five cruise bombs launched from the Russian region of Belgorod.
