Ukrainian drones hit an ammunition warehouse in Russia's Voronezh region the night before, a Ukrainian security source said on Saturday, adding that Kiev believes the warehouse is being used to transfer ammunition and equipment to Ukraine, Reuters reports.

Alexander Gusev, the Russian governor of the province, said in a statement to Telegram that "explosive objects" were detonated after a fire in the region's Ostorogozhsky district.

He said that there were no victims, but that a state of emergency was declared at the local level, several hundred people were evacuated, and the main road was closed.

A Ukrainian source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Reuters the operation was carried out by the SBU, Ukraine's internal security service.

"At this time, there are still four pockets of heavy fire on the scene, as well as continuous detonation of ammunition," the source said.

The source also said that the facility is located in the village of Soldatskoe. That settlement is nearly 80 miles (130 km) from the nearest Ukrainian-controlled territory.

Ukraine, banned by some of its Western allies from using its missiles on Russian territory, has built up a stockpile of long-range domestic drones, some of which are capable of hitting targets more than 1.000 kilometers away.
