French authorities have foiled three attacks on the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris and other cities hosting the competitions, the country's counter-terrorism prosecutor, Olivier Christen, said on Wednesday.
Kristen said the plots included plans to attack "Israeli institutions and representatives of Israel in Paris" during the July 26-August 11 Olympics in Paris.
He told Frans info that "the Israeli sports team was not specifically targeted", but did not give further details.
A total of five people, including a minor, were arrested on suspicion of being involved in three foiled plots against the Olympic Games, which were held in the midst of the war between Israel and Hamas and between Russia and Ukraine.
The suspects are in pre-trial detention and face various terrorism charges.
France has been on the highest security alert for months ahead of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which ended last Sunday.
During preparations for the Games, Interior Minister Žerald Darmanin repeatedly warned of security threats from Islamist extremist groups, violent environmental activists, far-right groups and cyber attacks from Russia or other adversaries.
In May, an 18-year-old man from Chechnya was arrested on suspicion of planning an attack on the Olympic football tournament in Saint-Etienne in the name of the ideology of the so-called militant organization. Islamic states.
Jihadist threats dominated foiled conspiracies, and 80 percent of court proceedings against suspects involve extremist ideology that continues to influence French youth, the prosecutor said, adding that the Islamic State continues to spread propaganda.
Kristen said preventive measures included house searches and house arrest before the Olympics began, and that police and other security forces searched 936 homes this year, compared with 153 last year.
