Russian forces have launched a significant counteroffensive against Ukrainian troops in Russia's Kursk region, according to reports from pro-Russian war bloggers and a senior Russian commander, the Guardian reports.
Pro-Ukrainian observers also report heavy fighting in part of the occupied territory and the possible recapture of villages by Russia.
Russian forces are said to have captured several villages in the western part of a narrow strip of territory previously occupied by Ukraine, pushing Ukrainian forces east of the Malaya Loknya River south of Snagost. The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced that they defeated Ukrainian units in several villages.
For now, there are no official comments from Ukraine.
