Russia announced that it shot down 125 drones overnight, 67 of them in the western region of Volgograd, several hundred kilometers from Ukraine.
"During the night, the anti-aircraft defense destroyed and intercepted 125 Ukrainian drones," the Russian Ministry of Defense announced via Telegram.
The ministry added that 67 aircraft were shot down over Volgograd region, 18 over Rostov region, 17 over Belgorod and the same number over Voronezh region, one each over Bryansk, Kueska region and Krasnodar regional subregion.
Three drones were shot down over the Sea of Azov.
Those areas, except for Volgograd and Krasnodar, border Ukraine.
Volgograd is located a few hundred kilometers from the border, and Krasnodar is next to the Crimean peninsula, which was annexed by Russia.
Governor of Volgograd Andrey Bosharov said via Telegram that there were no casualties or damage, and Rostov Governor Vasili Goubev said the same.
The governor of Voronezh, Alexander Gusev, also confirmed that there were no casualties in his area, but reported that fires broke out in two residential buildings.
Russia reports almost daily that it has destroyed Ukrainian drones sent to its territory.
Kiev says it is carrying out the strikes in response to more than two years of Russian bombing of Ukraine, targeting military and industrial targets.
