A Ukrainian drone attack on the largest fuel depot in Russian-occupied Crimea on Monday sparked a massive fire that prompted the evacuation of hundreds of people, as Russia and Ukraine continue to exchange drone strikes.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Army announced that its forces carried out a successful attack on a fuel storage facility in the port city of Feodosia in southeastern Crimea early Monday, Radio Free Europe's English-language newsroom reported.
It is the largest fuel depot in the occupied region that serves the Russian army.
Russian Telegram channels reported that residents reported several powerful explosions that rang out in Feodosia around 4.30:XNUMX a.m. local time, after which a fire broke out.

Igor Tkachenko, a Russian-appointed official in Crimea, confirmed that a fuel depot had caught fire, without mentioning the drone strike.

About 300 people have been evacuated from Feodosia, a city with about 70.000 inhabitants, Russian state news agency TASS reported, citing occupation authorities.
The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced on its Telegram channel that air defense shot down 21 drones early Monday, of which 21 were over Crimea, six over the Kursk region, and the rest over the Belgorod, Bryansk and Voronezh regions.
Ukraine, whose civilian and energy infrastructure is under relentless attack by Russian drones and rockets, has in turn resorted to striking military facilities inside Russia over the past year.
On October 7, Ukrainian air defenses shot down 32 Russian drones and a Kinzhal cruise missile over the Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Chernigov, Poltava and Kharkiv regions, the Ukrainian Air Force said on Telegram.
