Russia is ready to listen to the proposal of the newly elected US President Donald Trump to end the war in Ukraine, said a Russian official.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Moscow and Washington exchange signals about Ukraine through "closed channels".
Russia is ready to listen to Trump's proposals on Ukraine, provided that they are "ideas on how to move forward in the agreement, and not in the area of further assistance to the Kiev regime," Ryabkov said today in an interview with the Russian state news agency Interfax.
Russia appears to be preparing a new campaign of airstrikes, and Ukrainian officials are seeking help from the West to defend themselves.
However, there are doubts about what Kiev can expect from the new US administration.
Trump has repeatedly disputed US aid to Ukraine, made vague promises to end the war and praised Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The High Representative of the EU for foreign policy and security, Josep Borelj, assured Ukraine of European support.
"The EU's support for Ukraine has been my personal priority during my mandate and will remain at the top of the EU's agenda," Borel wrote on the X social network.
