The Social Democrats won the most votes in today's parliamentary elections in Romania, although the extreme right had a breakthrough, according to exit polls after the polls closed.
The Social Democratic Party could win 26 percent of the vote.
However, all extreme right-wing parties together could win about 30 percent of the vote.
If these estimates are confirmed, difficult negotiations for the formation of the government are expected.
Parliamentary elections in Romania were held between two rounds of presidential elections.
