Denmark has delivered the second contingent of multipurpose F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today, who is on his way to Paris, where he will meet with leading politicians and officials from around the world tonight.
In a Telegram message, Zelenski praised Denmark and expressed regret for the lack of commitment from other allies, reported the AFP agency.
"The first delivery of aircraft given by the Danes is already shooting down Russian missiles, saving our people and our infrastructure. Now our air defense has been further strengthened," Zelensky said.
"If all partners were so determined, we would be able to make Russian terror impossible," Zelensky wrote.
Zelenskiy said that Russian President Vladimir Putin is not looking for "real peace", and that he is only looking to threaten a country with bombs, rockets and other forms of violence.
"Only through strength can we resist it, and only through strength can real peace be established," Zelenski said.
Today, Zelensky is scheduled to meet with world leaders at a ceremony marking the reopening of Paris's renovated Notre Dame Cathedral after a devastating fire in 2019. It is hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron.
Among those present at that ceremony will be the newly elected US President Donald Trump, as well as European leaders, who, as AP writes, want to persuade him to maintain support for Ukraine against the three-year-old Russian invasion. It was not stated whether Trump will meet with Zelensky.
