A new series of earthquakes has hit the Greek island of Santorini since last night, with one of the tremors having a magnitude greater than five.
The Athens Institute of Geodynamics recorded seven consecutive earthquakes last night.
Despite the latest aftershocks, "the intensity is decreasing but has not yet stabilized," the institute's assistant director, Athanasios Ganas, told ERT television.
The institute said today that at least 6.000 earthquakes have been recorded since January 26 in the coastal zone of Santorini and surrounding islands.
Experts cannot give a final estimate of when the seismic activity will stop.
