A 14-year-old teenager was killed and four people were injured in a knife attack in southern Austria today, police said, adding that they had arrested the suspect, a 23-year-old Syrian asylum seeker.
"A man randomly attacked passersby with a knife in the city of Filah, and a 14-year-old boy died," police said.
The suspect is not known to the police and nothing is known about his motives at this time.
Two men were seriously injured and two others were slightly injured, police added.
The attack took place in the center of Villach, the capital of Carinthia.
Two days earlier, a two-year-old girl and her mother were killed and 37 people were injured in a car attack in Munich, Germany.
The suspect in the crime is a 24-year-old asylum seeker from Afghanistan who has been arrested.
