A knife-wielding attacker killed two people in a shopping mall in the Czech city of Hradec Kralove, police said, adding that they arrested the suspected attacker shortly after the incident.
Czech television reported that the suspect is a 16-year-old Czech citizen.
"Although we were on scene within minutes of the call, both victims sustained injuries so severe that they could not be saved despite the best efforts of responders," police said in a post on X.
Police said they were investigating the motive for the attack in the city, which is located 110 kilometers east of Prague, Reuters reports.
