Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said today, before leaving for a meeting of European leaders in London, that Europe has woken up and is slowly realizing the paradox of 500 million Europeans asking 300 million Americans to defend them from only 140 million Russians.
"Europe has awakened. As I once said in Poland, a giant has awakened and those who were weak have raised their heads and won. Independence but not loneliness. An awakened Europe, a Europe that knows how to calculate, that understands its global potential, a Europe that is a force, will not be an alternative for the US, but the most desirable ally," said the Polish Prime Minister before leaving for London.
Tusk strongly rejected claims by some leaders in Europe who agree to Russia's conditions that Europe has no chance and that Russia is superior.
"Hear for yourself how it sounds: 500 million Europeans begging 300 million Americans to defend them from 140 million Russians. If you can count, count on yourself. Not in isolation, but with full awareness of your potential. Today, in Europe, we do not lack economic strength, people, but the belief that we are a global power," said Tusk.
The Polish Prime Minister said that it is known, and he knows from his own experience, that an aggressor, even an ordinary bully on the playground, does not attack the smallest and weakest, but rather the one who is afraid.
"There is a shortage of ideas in Europe that we are brave. Europe must see its strength and I will speak about it in London," said Tusk.
The Prime Minister also presented statistics that Europe and Ukraine, which are on the same side against Russian aggression, have 2,6 million professional soldiers, the US 1,3 million, China 1,1 million, and Russia 2.091 million. Europe and Ukraine have 1.456 combat aircraft, the US 1.409, China 1.224, and Russia only XNUMX.
Tusk said that he would strive for Poland to help awaken this awareness of strength because such an awakened Europe can guarantee peace, and not lead to Ukraine's capitulation.
"I will support Prime Minister Meloni's initiative to organize a European Union-US summit because it seems very necessary. But I will also loudly demand that Europe, all European countries, strengthen the eastern flank now. And that will be a test of will to have more European soldiers in Finland, the Baltic countries and in Poland on the border with Russia and Belarus," Tusk said.
